Methodology

The Hedge Funds Review European Performance Awards 2020 recognise the best hedge funds and funds of hedge funds in Europe. This year we are celebrating 20 years of continuous hedge fund and FoHF awards.

Winners are selected based on a rigorous methodology that combines quantitative and qualitative analysis.

Funds that meet the qualification criteria are analysed using ranking allocation using equal a 10% weight: annualised return, cumulative return, volatility, Sharpe, Sortino, maximum drawdown, alpha, beta, information ratio and r-squared.

All comparisons are made net of fees and using US dollars and/or US dollar share classes. Where no US dollar share class is available, the main currency of the fund/FoHF is used.

The panel collectively considers the results of the quantitative analysis and selects a winner taking into account qualitative factors based on their extensive experience and expertise.

The winners of the qualitative categories are awarded at the discretion of the judging panels.

Where judges are conflicted in an award category, they stand aside from judging.

The judging panel is impartial and unbiased and seeks to reward genuine performance and expertise as well as assessing behaviour by funds towards all investors, ESG factors and awareness of climate impact.
